In Order. What's Your Role?

October 5, 2017. Matthew 4, Luke 4-5, John 1:15-51

In Order. What’s Your Role?

These next few paragraphs may be a little blunt and honest, hopefully they will challenge you in your daily walk with Christ and your everyday routines.

If someone were to ask you “what is your role as a Christian?” what would your response be? Truthfully, what would you say? Would you say that your role is to attend church, help in kids ministry, maintain the coffee, greet those walking through the doors. What would you say your role was as a Christ follower?

John 1:22-23

Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”

John knows his role, it is to be a voice speaking out about the Lord our God.  Especially in the world we live in today, surrounded by fear and darkness, by uncertainty, in a world consumed by materialistic concerns, we need to be that voice pushing through. Don’t hide yourself in a bubble with other Christians and become scared of speaking out about your God, be bold, be proud, and help point others in the direction of our Lord and Saviour.

Now, obviously those roles in your church are important as well, but are you seeing the same faces over and over? Have you greeted anyone you have never seen before? When was the last time you invited someone to attend your church? It won’t be easy, but it will become easier.  Let your actions and your everyday living speak more than the words that you speak.

Challenge yourself throughout the week and ask what role you want to take on while following your Lord.
