In Order. What's The Plan?

May 25, 2017. 1 Chronicles 23-25.

We begin our reading with an aging and fulfilled King David, as he is acknowledging his son Solomon’s reign after him. He then gathers the leaders of Israel, the priests, and the Levites all together. David was organizing the temple building team and all other details of the kingdom, to help Solomon for the future.

David had a plan for the work load of the team, and it was given by the LORD.

He divides the sons of Levi and assigns their duties to help in service with the house of the LORD. They would now serve under the priests of Aaron.

(1Chronicles 23:25) For David said, “The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever;

They no longer were to carry the tabernacle or the articles for service. Jerusalem would be the new dwelling place from now on and at last they were given rest.

We can’t help but notice one of the most important duties given to the Levites!

(1 Chronicles 23:30) To stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening.

Not only were they to be recognized as the servants to the priest, but they made an essential stand to recognize “The High Priest” each and every morning and evening.

What a beautiful example for us to follow every day, as we choose to serve others in the day to day. We can make it part of our schedule to praise and thank the LORD at the very start of our day right on thru to the end. With all that thanking and praising going on, there probably won’t be much time to complain, gossip or worry.

When we are serving others there will be many needs and tasks to do along the way. Just like in these verses, the Lord will provide rest and guidance, with a plan for His serving children.

We can choose to not carry the task all by ourselves. God wants us on His team, interacting with other team members, moving in the same direction, for the same purpose.

When there is a lot of work to be done….isn’t nice to have someone in charge with a decisive and organized plan?

God has, and wants us to be, and have a part in His plan! Most of us want to have a place, to belong and have a purpose. The great thing about a loving God is He longs to welcome all who believe in Him and want to follow His direction.

God knows the blueprints of your life, and just like He revealed the plan to build the temple to King David, He wants to reveal the process and the help, to come along side of you, to complete His work in and through you!

So why not just trust Him, hand over the pencil, and let God do the adding or erasing….after all He’s the One holding the plan!
