In Order. The Perfect Father

In Order. The Perfect Father.

Father’s day can mean many different things to so many different people. For some it is the best day ever, and others it can be very bittersweet remembering a lost loved one, or some can detest the day remembering an absent father.  But, here is the thing; we as Christians, who have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we have the perfect Father.  God has adopted us and taken us as his own and oh how he loves us, in all of our sin nature, rebellious, stubborn selves.  He loves us. Period.

God is our perfect father, and he wants to have a relationship with us.  He wants us to run to him when we are hurt, he wants us to cry out when we are at the end of our ropes, he wants us to seek him to better ourselves.  He is there.  He is not just a father, he is a daddy to his children.

He has given us a manual to follow and is waiting there to help us grow, if only we would pick it up and read it. Yes at times it may seem like life is not going the way we wanted and it may seem as though God is being especially hard on us and pushing us.  When that time comes remember Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

He is sharpening you and molding you into the person He created you to be.  And like any good father he shows us mercy.  He wants us to prosper and to continue to learn and there are so many times that we make mistakes but in Proverbs 28: 13 he says

 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
    but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

God has already seen the sinful nature we have, he knows you are not perfect; all you have to do is admit it and acknowledge it.  However at times there are going to be consequences for the decisions we have made.

29:17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
    they will bring you the delights you desire.

He is proud of his creation and he is proud of you, he knows that you are capable of being great, but at times you may just need a little more a kick in the butt to get going in the right direction.

Bottom line is this, if you are unsure of how you feel about Father’s Day, or are having a hard time celebrating a father that is in your life or is absent from your life for one reason or another, celebrate the perfect father who has never left your side and who will never leave you.
