In Order. Steadfastly

July 13, 2017.  2 Chronicles 27, Isaiah 9-12.

In Order. Steadfast

These chapters are full of so much truth and so many different challenges that we should apply to our lives.  From the prophesy of Christ being born, to the wrath and anger of the Lord Almighty, full of encouragement and yet warnings for how we should be living our lives.

But one scripture stuck out, a simple one, found in 2 Chronicles 27:6

Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God.

Focus on that key word, steadfastly. What does that word really mean? Steadfastly means: fixed in direction; firm in purpose, resolution, faith; unwavering, faith. Jotham was completely commited to following his God.  His sole focus was on the Lord his God. Nothing could sway him or lead him astray.  He knew what his purpose was and that was to follow God and to do the work he was called to do.

In verse 2 is says “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord” Sometimes it is hard being a Christian today.  We have so much that is thrown at us from science to what is politically correct.  We want to be liked and accepted but at the same time we want our beliefs and religion. We are given this choice daily, whether or not we are going to follow Christ or the world and it feels like if we choose Christ we may loose something that we hold dear, whether it be family or a friend, or maybe a job.

Here is the thing, it may seem as if we may be loosing something or someone, but look at Jotham, because he was steadfast in his walk with God he grew powerful.  That man wanted for nothing.  If he needed something, to win a battle, to be a great king, the Lord was there to care for him.  Stop looking at what it might be that you will lose and look at what the Lord wants give you instead.

Take Isaiah 12:2 and meditate on it, make it a life verse, memorize it and put it into practice.

Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense[j];
    he has become my salvation.”

Be steadfast, fixed in your walk with Christ, stand firm in your beliefs, and have a faith that is so unwavering others look at you and wonder where that confidence and peace come from.  Make them question and then share about the One who has given you life.
