In Order. Stand Between

March 2, 2017. Numbers 16-17.

These 2 chapters are the kind of stuff that movies are made out of; rebellion, wrath of God, the earth opening up and entire families and goods being swallowed. There is a lot of action in this story along with the revelation that God can deal out swift justice. One of the amazing truths revealed in this story of sudden destruction and judgment is the fact that one man, stood in the gap and God accepted his actions and stopped the plague of death.

We are all guilty of rebellion against God, His law, His commandments, and His will. But one man, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, made a difference for each of us as He took our place on the cross and received the wages of our sin. God’s wrath was appeased. And today we can receive the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23) rather than God’s punishment for sin, which is death (Romans 3:23)

Another powerful lesson from this story is the fact that your life could make the difference for someone else that may be estranged from God. What impact could you have on another’s life if you were to stand in the gap for them today? How? Pray for that person. Call them and let them know that you are praying for them, even if they did not ask you to pray for them. Maybe you need to say the hard thing that everyone else is avoiding. The families in this story had no idea that they were on the brink of total destruction. So today intervene with love and concern and then be prepared to see lives reconciled to God, after all, that is His greatest desire.

16:48 He stood between those who had died and those who were still alive, and the plague stopped.

So today, decide to be that person that stands between destruction and deliverance for someone else. Or if you are needing someone to pray for you contact us here at Reach Youth Global (info@ryglobal.org)
