In Order. Rebel or Revolutionary?
August 29, 2017. Ezekiel 9-12.
Have you ever turned to Google to answer a question, or gone on YouTube to learn how to play an instrument or bake a cake?
Technology and its advancements are an incredible thing. Endless knowledge is literally at your fingertips. However impressive and useful these tools are, they also create a “know-it-all” mentality. It is so easy to turn to the world and the resources it provides to find answers to your life questions and problems.
Ezekiel 12:1-2 could very well be describing our world today.
1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.
The only source of absolute truth and guidance is the Bible. Do not be so caught up in the going ons of the world today that you close your ears and eyes to what the Lord is trying to say to you. How does a world so rebellious and off-track begin to heal? By surrendering to the One True God.
Here is what God had to say about the rebellious people in Ezekiel 11-
19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols, I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
All it takes to get back on track with God is a willing heart. Ask the Lord to change your heart today and to change the hearts of our leaders and neighbors. Prayer is a powerful thing, and God really does listen. Rebellious behavior, like a mob mentality, just spreads and spreads and gets worse.
Ezekiel 9:9
[…] “The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land; the Lord does not see.’
Be the catalyst. Be the change. Be an example of love and kindness, and a willingness to follow the Lord.
Decide today, are you going to be a rebel? Or are you going to be a revolutionary?
“Lord, create in me a new spirit. Open my eyes to see you and my ears to hear your word.”
