In Order. Perfect Timing

November 25. Galatians 4 – 6

You have heard the expression, timing is everything. So much in life going right seems to depend on the right timing. From swinging a bat in baseball - to baking a cheesecake, timing is critical to success. The illustrations are innumerable. But one thing we can learn from today's reading is that God’s timing is always perfect.

4:4 But when the right time came, the time God decided on, he sent his Son, born of a woman, born as a Jew,

That is a lot to think about, so take some time and do just that; think about God’s perfect timing in your life. You thought that flat tire was an annoyance and that you have the worst luck of anyone because now you are going to be late for this appointment. But was it bad luck and an inconvenience, or was it part of God’s perfect timing in your life – to direct your steps, or to teach you something, or even to protect you from something far worse than a flat tire?

5:16 I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to.

You see, God’s Spirit is always trying to lead you and teach you and guide you, and His timing is always perfect as well as God the Father’s. God is the author of time, and God’s Spirit is always working with you to help you in time and through your time.  Take Paul’s advice, “I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions…” Only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. Listening to other voices will most surely mess up the timing of God’s plan for your life.

Paul reveals another important truth about time in chapter six of Galatians;

6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up (NLT)

If you obey the Holy Spirit as He tells you where to go and what to do, then the result is doing what is good. And if you do what is good, God, just at the right time, will allow you to reap a harvest of blessing. So do not give up. God’s timing is perfect. He sees. He knows. He acts.

It is your life, you must decide how you will live it, and when you will act or react. But remember, God’s timing is perfect and if you will follow the leadership of His Spirit in your life, you will experience the results and blessings of His perfect timing for your life. You can learn to be more sensitive to His timing, and responsive to it, as you continually strive to act and react immediately to the Spirit’s prompting and guidance. Delay and hesitation with the Spirit’s leadership, can have the same results if it were an attempt to hit a major league fastball – swing and a miss. His timing is perfect – follow it the moment you know He is leading and enjoy the results of His perfect timing.
