In Order. Oh For Loves Sake

Oh for Loves Sake…

Colossians 1-4, Philemon 1

For the sake of love-what would we be willing to do? What actions could possibly exemplify love?

(Colossians 3:12) Therefore, as the elect of God, holy, and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13. Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

(Colossians 3:14) But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Notice how His word tells us that we have to literally “put these things on”. Love here is an action.

And how can one even begin to define the true and the very depth of the meaning of L-O-V-E?!?

It would seem that when love is put on, it is profitable for us and is the actual bond of perfection. After all God is Love…..

Does Jesus’ love triumph over everything that God created?

(Colossians 2:14, 15) having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

(John 3:16, 17) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Can His love make all things new?

And what for loves sake are we to put off?

(Colossians 3:8, 9) But now you yourselves are to put off all these things anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.

His love is able…but like a gentle teacher, He will leave the choice up to us to advance ourselves to new and better ways! His ways!

What should we do in the name of love?

(Colossians 3:17) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Well, friends it looks like EVERYTHING we do should be in the name of love! Our words-our deeds-absolutely everything! All because of The One who is love, and who showed us the greatest example of love by giving His life for us….

What a purposeful act of worship and obedience we have to share daily, with a lost and dying world….

So? For loves sake what will the action be? Just ask the One who knows and loves the most; what He would have for you to do next-for and because of Loves Sake?
