In Order. Need To Know

Ezekiel 38-39

God wants people to know about Him.  He has given to people the Bible, so people may know about Him.  He sent His Son and then His Spirit so people may know about Him.  He gives to everyone the sun, the rain, the snow and air to breath, so that people may know about Him.  Today’s passage is a way people will know about Him that is not often thought about.  It will be when time and man’s history, as we know it, begins to come to an end.

Concerning this future time, the Lord tells us,

Ezekiel 38:18 “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face.”

That fury will result in great cataclysmic events that will shake the whole earth.  The Lord then says that through this fury…

Ezekiel 38:23 “Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.”

People throughout the world will know about the Lord, because of His fury.

Later the Lord says,

Ezekiel 39:21-22 “I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward.”

Throughout this narrative about future judgment, is the underlying truth that all people will know about the Lord.

How sad, though, to have to know about the glory and majesty of God through His fury and judgment, when there is His creation, His word, His Son and His Spirit enabling us to know Him in a much better way.

Do you want to know God?

  • Start with creation and know about the glory and majesty of God as you contemplate the wonder of your body, the plants and animals, the sun, the rain and the air you breath.
  • But then, move to reading His word to know more about the glory and majesty of God.  A great passage to read, related to the first point, is Job 38:4-39:30.
  • In His word, God will move you to know specifically about the glory and majesty of His love shown to you in His Son as the Savior and Lord of your life.
  • In His Spirit, you will know the glory and majesty of God’s desire for your life as His Spirit moves you down a path of great joy and blessings.

How awesome it is to know God in this way. Just try it, today, and you will see the joy of knowing Him each day of your life.
