In Order. My Help

IN ORDER…MY HELP
ISAIAH  31-34
JULY 23, 2017

Isaiah 31.1
What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help,
trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers
and depending on the strength of human armies
instead of looking to the Lord,
    the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah is telling the Israelites that are seeking help from the Assyrian army from the Egyptians and not God is going to end badly. Now for some reason, it seems that we always turn to God as a last resort. It seems like the very natural thing for us to do in a crisis is to turn to people or our own resources for help.

My first go to is try to figure out how to work things out myself. If that does not work then surely my friends whose wisdom and resource is superior to mine will help. After all getting their support and sympathy for my problem or cause instead of turning to the Lord seems so much easier. but they are only people, limited in ability and resource just like me!

31.3 For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God!
Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits!
When the Lord raises his fist against them,
    those who help will stumble,
and those being helped will fall.
They will all fall down and die together.
But like the Israelites who are ready to look to Egypt for help, to depend and trust in their chariots and in their horsemen rather than look to the Lord for their help I find out that my friends cant help me the way that God wants to help.

"It's better to put your trust in the Lord than your confidence in man. It's better to put your trust in the Lord than your confidence in princes" Psalm 118:8-9

God will defend and protect us from any threat or any enemy. However we must be willing to trust Him.

4a But this is what the Lord has told me…
4c In the same way, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will come down and fight on Mount Zion.
5 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will hover over Jerusalem
and protect it like a bird protecting its nest.
He will defend and save the city;
he will pass over it and rescue it.”

Whatever challenge, need or threat that we face is simply a test of our faith. Will we rely on ourselves of the power of man or will we trust the Lord to deliver us. God delivers in His time and in His way. Don’t panic help is on the way!

By the way The Lord did deliver Israel for her enemies the Assyrian’s but not through the Egyptians.

2 Kings 19:35
35 That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

‘Dear Heavenly Father today I look to you for my deliverance, supply and protection. I know that  I may not be able to see or understand how you will help me but I trust in the unseen heavenly realms your will is being accomplished for me. I trust in you not myself or other people you alone are my God!
