In Order. Meet Me At My Place

February 9, 2017. Exodus 30-32.

It is usually going to be a good time when you are asked to meet a friend at their place. God was inviting Israel to meet Him at HIs place. God was giving instruction about His place to Moses on Mount Sinai while the Hebrews waited below. There were specific instructions about what was in the “tent of Meeting” and also specifically where He would meet his guests.

30.6 Place the incense altar just outside the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant, in front of the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that covers the tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant. I will meet with you there.

Obviously God wanted His place and the visit to be special. Do you have a special place where you meet God that makes the visit special? I do. It is anywhere in nature especially if the place has water and is far from other people.

More importantly than the place is the content of the conversation. In meeting with God the people were reminded of God’s commitment to them and vice versa the place of atonement…I will meet with you there. When I meet with God at His place part of our conversation is always about the fact that  I have strayed for my commitment to him but He reminds me He has me covered (atonement) and I am encouraged to press on serving Him. I am also reminded that he has anointed me to do anything He is asking me to do.

31.1Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.

God is very jealous about how He wants to meet with us as the Hebrews found out. While Moses was away the Hebrews panic without their leader and make an attempt at meeting with the God they cannot see. It ended up in a disaster.

32.22 “Don’t get so upset, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know how evil these people are. 23 They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.’ 24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has gold jewelry, take it off.’ When they brought it to me, I simply threw it into the fire—and out came this calf!”

32.35 Then the Lord sent a great plague upon the people because they had worshiped the calf Aaron had made.

Meet God at His place, the sanctuary of your heart. But do so in a place where your heart is prepared too meet with Him and give him your attention. Relax, don't panic he will speak to you and give you exactly what you need.
