In Order. His Words

When pick up the bible to read your devotion, are you doing it because it is what is expected of you? Are you doing it to so you can say you read your bible everyday? Or are you taking the words of the Lord to heart and really drinking in every little drop?

Solomon writes about his words in chapter 4, but it is something that we need to apply to God’s Word and our every day life. These simple instructions are actions that we need to challenge ourselves with. Instructions that need to become our life.

20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
    turn your ear to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
    keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
    and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.
24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;
    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;
    fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.
27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
    keep your foot from evil.

Keep them within your heart for they are life. The Word of the Lord is life, it is the living water that will quench your thirst.

John 4:14  but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Challenge yourself daily to memorize and keep a scripture on your heart.  When you have scripture on your mind and in your heart, the rest will follow.  Your mouth will speak what is on your heart, your eyes will show the love that fills you, and your path will follow the way the path the Lord has set before you.  Do not get discourged when you fail, and you will, we are all human. It will take practice and you may stumble, but God is kind and forgiving, he will pick you up and brush you off and set you back on track with love and encouragement.

Psalm 86:5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
