In Order. Different

As Moses and Aaron continue trying to get the Israelites out of Egypt, we see over and over again the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart.  But there is something else happening; the Lord is making a distinction between his people, the Israelites, and the Egyptians.

Exodus 10:21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

And again in chapter 11 we see it when Moses is speaking to Pharaoh of the last and final plague:

So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

Did you catch that? “Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.”  In the KJV it puts it like this “that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.”

Being a Christian we should be able to see a difference or a distinction between the world and us.  The Lord wants the world to know we are His children, and we should be proud of that fact.  At times trials are going to come up but if we continue to trust and follow him, he will make it known that He is by our side.  It is black and white, no gray area, we are either His children and apart of His kingdom, or we are not.

When people look at you, can they make the distinction that you are different? That there might be something more to you?  Living differently from the way of this world is not always easy, but it does allow for you to stand out and in return opens the door for people to question what that difference may be.

Be bold and be different.
