In Order. Death Is Your Freedom

March 10, 2017. Numbers 35-36.

Death is not a subject most people enjoy talking about. Death, for a deeply depressed individual or someone in extreme pain and suffering, may seem like a legitimate option. The title of this blog, “Death Is Your Freedom”, is not making a reference to your death. But consider this excerpt from today’s chronological reading through the Bible, Numbers 35:26-28:

35:26 “If the slayer leaves the city, 27 and the avenger finds him outside and kills him, it is not murder, 28 for the man should have stayed inside the city until the death of the High Priest. But after the death of the High Priest, the man may return to his own land and home.

It was the death of the High Priest that would release the murderer/ slayer from the condemnation and wrath of the victim’s family. At the death of the High Priest, the man would be able to return to his own land and home.

Hebrews 4:14 presents Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as our great High Priest. Do you realize with His death He has made our freedom from the condemnation of sin a possibility? The guilty has only to accept His substitutionary death on the cross. Confess that you have sinned. Believe that He died, was buried and rose again the third day for you, offering you a free gift of eternal life in exchange for the death penalty that is upon every one of us because of our sin nature.

You do not have to live in bondage. The High Priest, Jesus Christ, has died for you. Be free. One last Scripture to think about today:

John 8:36 “So if the Son (Jesus Christ) sets you free, you will indeed be free.”

Your freedom is waiting. Is Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior? Let Him set you free! If He is your Savior, you no longer have to live in bondage to sin or the guilt of your sin. He set you free and free indeed! Enjoy that new life found in Jesus Christ.
