In Order. Darkness Creeping In?

In Order. Darkness Creeping In?

Have you ever had one of those days or weeks or even years that just seem dark? Like no matter what happens it seems to only be negative and you are trying so hard to see the light? A time when you feel as if there is no hope and your enemy is crushing you over and over and you feel consumed by darkness.  Micah can relate.

Micah 7:8-9

Do not gloat over me, my enemy!
    Though I have fallen, I will rise.
Though I sit in darkness,
    the Lord will be my light.

Because I have sinned against him,
    I will bear the Lord’s wrath,
until he pleads my case
    and upholds my cause.
He will bring me out into the light;
    I will see his righteousness.

We all have those times where we feel beaten down, thinking that whatever is happening is because of us, and yes all of our choices have consequences whether good or bad, but we have one thing some do not: God our Lord and Saviour.

There are going to be times in your life, and maybe you are going through one those times right now, where you are struggling to trust in God and what he has planned for you.  You are struggling to remember what it really means to walk with Christ and be in a relationship with him.  Look at the people of Israel, they have to be reminded over and over again of what the Lord can do for them.

Micah 6:3-4

“My people, what have I done to you?
    How have I burdened you? Answer me.
I brought you up out of Egypt
    and redeemed you from the land of slavery.
I sent Moses to lead you,
    also Aaron and Miriam.

Even after showing them time and time again that He was for them and with them, they still needed reminding.  God understands we are human, he does not require much of us, Micah 6:8 says this “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”  Wow, seems simple enough. Then read Micah 7:18-19

18 Who is a God like you,
    who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
    of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
    but delight to show mercy.

19 You will again have compassion on us;
    you will tread our sins underfoot
    and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

Now that right there is a loving God.  There is no other God like him.  So next time you are feeling that darkness creep in or doubting the love and plans God has for your life, remember these verses.  He loves you. Period.
