In Order. Ark of Safety

January 2, 2017. Genesis 4 - 7.

Talk about plot twists, reading these next four chapters in the Scriptures will take you through some intense drama. Chapter 4 contains the first murder in the history of mankind and it was a brother killing his brother out of jealousy.

Chapter 5 may put you to sleep as you read a generational account from Adam to Noah, names we cannot easily pronounce and life-spans that seem almost impossible.

In chapter 6 the plot darkens again as God is so disappointed in the way that His creation has chosen to live life. God’s response is to cleanse His creation and begin anew with Noah and his family. So, Noah receives the instructions to build an ark because the judgment waters are coming. He has never seen rain. The news he has received must have been hard, if not impossible to comprehend. But he followed God’s direction despite the questions that he may have had.

Then in chapter 7 the flood waters arrive and the chapter closes out with these words…

23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

So how do you find order for your life in the truths of these chapters? In a very practical sense, some of our greatest conflicts occur within our own family. Sin is present in each of our lives and in every family, and it can destroy lives. But that is where we see the beauty of chapters 5, 6 and 7 being played out.

God is always working a plan for our salvation. He has a master design to save you and your family. All those names in chapter 5 bring us to Noah. God has been working to get to you, through so many people that have gone before you. And now as with Noah in chapter 6, you must make the decision to trust Him, to believe His word. There is safety for you and your family in the ark. Jesus Christ is your ark of safety, your Savior. Trust Him today.

And when the storms rage and the consequences of sin are played out, you will be found safe, forgiven, because you accepted God’s invitation to come into the ark of safety where He shut the door and sealed you until the day of your redemption. He loves you. Do not let sin and evil wreck your life and family. Trust God. Obey His word. Get in the ark! Put your life in the nail-scarred hands of Jesus Christ.
