In Order. Actions of Encouragement

Psalm 95, 97-99

Actions of Encouragement

There are two actions where we can never go wrong.  Two actions that will encourage us each day no matter what the situation or circumstance.  The first action?

Exalt the Lord

Exalt Him like we see here.  Exalt Him by remembering how great He is.  We can go through our own personal list, or just read through the list of the Psalmist.

When we remember how great He is, we exalt Him by following the examples of exalting Him seen in the rest of creation.

98:1 Oh, sing to the LORD a new song!

98:4 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.

98:8 Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together.

Sing, Shout, Clap and be Joyful.  Exalt Him.  Not just on Sunday’s or occasionally throughout the week, but regularly as a part of each new day that the Lord has given to you.

Sing, Shout, Clap and be Joyful about….

  • Your relationship with the Lord
  • Your life
  • Your family
  • Your friends
  • The roof over your head
  • The delicious food you eat

The Second action:

Love the Lord and Hate evil

(Psalm 97:10)

When this is the pattern of our daily life, our great God, who we have exalted, preserves our souls and delivers us out of the hand of the wicked.

Today’s Psalms remind us of things we can specifically do when life is difficult.  When there is that hurt, fear, worry or concern.  When the question we continue to ponder is, “What can I do?”

Both actions that we can do are summed up in these simple words: Exalt the LORD our God, And worship at His footstool — He is holy. (Psalm 99:5)
