In Order. You Matter.

January 3, 2017. Genesis 8 – 11.

How do you find order in your life when it seems like the storms never end? Well here is the good news from today's chronological reading of God's Word...

The rains have ended. The flood waters are receding. Now read this first phrase very slowly from today’s chronological reading through the Scriptures; And God remembered Noah...” Repeat that phrase again, but this time replace Noah with YOUR name! God has not forgotten about you!

It may seem like the storms and flood waters have been beating at your door for far too long, and more than one sleepless night has caused you to ask the question, “will this ever end?” The answer is, YES. Yes, it will end, God has not forgotten you.

You may not have read chapters 10 and 11 once you saw that long list of hard to pronounce names, and that is okay. But do not miss the importance of God including all those names. These lists of genealogies in the Bible take up more space than God dedicated to recording His creation. Do you see it? Do you see the fact that individuals matter to God? He knows their names. He knows your name. You matter.

Oh, and just as God made some wonderful promises to Noah and mankind about never flooding the world again, you can be assured that He has made many more promises that are still available to you today. Believe Him, do not just believe in God, but truly believe Him and His word. His promises are true.

Notice this promise of the rainbow in Genesis chapter 9, verses 11 through 16; in verse 11 He states that it is His covenant. The wonderful thing here is that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). You can depend upon God keeping His promises. He will. In verse 13 He gives a token, a representation of that promise, a rainbow that can be seen in the clouds. Verse 16 is a powerful verse as you imagine the scene – When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature…”

That is amazing to think about; as you and I look up into the clouds of the rain storms, we will see the rainbow. As we are looking up towards the heavens at that illustrated promise from God, He is looking down towards us and sees the same token of His promise and He remembers. He remembers how much He loves you. He remembers His promises to us! He remembers your name and the plans that He has for you.

Look back through these few chapters again and see that God remembered Noah. God spoke to Noah. And God blessed Noah. Believe this and be encouraged by this truth, God knows your name. He remembers you. He wants to speak to you through His word and His servants. God wants to bless you.

You matter to God. Live blessed today, God loves you.
